Watering
In the pot for calathea, there must be a special drainage to drain excess water. Water the plant three times a week in the summer. You can choose whether this morning or evening, or the middle of the day.
In winter, the plant is much less often watered. Enough 1 time per week. Most importantly, make sure that the earth in the pot always dries up until the next watering. And also in no case do not allow the overdrying of the soil.
Humidity
Calathea loves humidity very much. It is advisable to put it near a humidifier that will work all the time. But if there is no humidifier, then you can use a conventional sprayer. Spray the plant with warm, settled water up to 4 times a day.
You can plant abundant watering once a month, having previously covered the soil with a protective film. If the plant does not receive sufficient moisture, then it becomes sluggish, and the leaves may turn brown and have torn edges.
Do not place the calathe near the battery, but rather put it in another place. Even if the place will not have enough light, it will be better than a too hot environment.
Temperature
Calathea loves warmth. You need to try to keep the temperature not lower than 16 degrees in the winter months. Do not allow drafts, because the calathea will immediately go down and become lifeless. Calathea also does not like a sharp temperature drop.
Lighting
When the calathea has a flowering period, you need to put it in the daylight in the spring during the spring 3-4 months. Because artificial lighting cannot help the flower form peduncles.
Fertilizer
Once a year, calathea should be transplanted into a substrate of loose consistency. Heavy models should serve as your pot so that the plant does not accidentally spread. Special fertilizer for decorative leafy plants will allow you to fertilize the plant throughout the year.
Breeding
Reproduction can be done by cuttings and seeds. The plant can also be divided into parts and each of them can be planted in flowerpots and set up a small greenhouse. The temperature should be maintained in the region of 20 degrees.
