There are certain styles of curtains created specifically for the kitchen, which take into account the specifics of the room.
Classic
Classic kitchen curtains are the usual classic gabardine, in addition to the fact that often it is much shorter than in other rooms.
Cafe
Curtains-cafes are selected for the interior, they can often be found in kitchens in the Provence style. Such curtains are made of light material and traditionally made in delicate shades.
Arch
These are popular, but not always practical curtains. They are made of a single piece of material that has an elongation at the edges and shortened in the center. The disadvantage of such curtains is that they do not protect well from the sun and are used more for beauty. However, if the windows of your kitchen do not face the sunny side, then the curtain arch will become its beautiful decoration.
Roll
Roller blinds are very practical and modern. The principle of roller blinds is that they rise and fall using a special roller, which is mounted at the top. Such curtains resemble blinds, but they are much more comfortable.
Roman
They differ from the roll opening mechanism. Such curtains require a minimum of material costs, in addition, they are convenient to use.
Pattern
The easiest way is to carve out classic kitchen curtains. For this you need to make preliminary measurements. The photo below shows which measurements you will need.
You will need all these data to calculate the required amount of material. Why do you need so many measurements? - To calculate everything to the smallest detail. Without the height of the ceiling, you cannot know the length of the product. Departure of the windowsill, needed to correctly choose the size of the brackets for the cornice. To correctly hang the curtain rod, you need the distance from the ceiling to the window, and to correctly calculate its length, you need the width of the window.
When calculating how much material is useful to you, do not forget that you will need to add half the width to the folds, and also remember about allowances for seams.
When cutting any curtain, the first thing you need to do is carefully iron the material, and then make a layout. Make sure that the pattern on both curtains matches and only then start cutting.
In the classic version of the curtains, all you need is to process the seams and make fasteners. Seams can be cut using basting with English pins or ironing the ends.
If you intend to sew Roman or roller blinds, you will need a minimum of material, since they are cut strictly to the size of the window with a margin for cutting.
