The flow is doing more and more to do it yourself. It's nice to put on a thing that is sewn with your own hands, and imagine how comfortable it will be to wrap yourself with a warm blanket that you yourself carefully sewn. Hand made products are valued significantly higher than the mass market, because they invested much more labor and time. In addition, by creating something with your own hands, you can be sure of the quality of this thing.
In this article, we will tell you how to sew a bonbon blanket yourself. Using the same technology, you can make not only a blanket, but also ottomans for stools, a mat for a child, and even soft sides in a crib. The cost of such a product will not be high, much lower than the market value of the finished product.
To make it, you will need fabric (it can be chintz, silk or satin, depending on the destination) and a filler (synthetic winterizer, holofiber or fluff).
You can take any fabric for the base, even use an ordinary sheet for this, it will still not be visible, and the fabric for the pillows of your choice can be of one color, or several. You can even use trim from different fabrics for this, you get an original design.
Training
First, you need to decide what size the pillows and the blanket will be in order to calculate the required amount of fabric. The size of the pads can be from 8 to 40 cm. Take paper, a pencil and draw a diagram according to which you will place the squares (if they are several shades), otherwise you risk getting confused in your own product. The arrangement can be chess, diagonal or stripes, you can even make a simple pattern such as a geometric figure, everything is in your hands. After you have drawn the diagram, you can calculate how much and what kind of material you will need. When calculating the flow rate, plus 2 cm squares on the seams. The fabric that you take as a basis should be 1.5 cm larger than the fabric for all the squares together.
To business
And so, suppose that you need to sew a blanket for a child made of chintz, measuring 110 * 90 cm. The sizes of the squares will be 15 cm. For this, you need about 3 m of chintz fabric and 1.5 m of main fabric.
- To get started, you need to cut 64 squares with sides of 15 cm from the main fabric and the same number of squares from chintz, 20 cm in size.
- Take a pencil and mark the middle of all sides of the squares of all the squares, at this point you will need to make small cuts 3-5 mm (this is done so that the folds on the squares are uniform).
- Take small squares (the base), and make small cuts (about 5 cm) in the middle of the squares, through them you will fill the blanket with filler.
- Next you will need pins. Connect the small squares with the large ones, for this, fasten them in all 4 corners. After that, connect the incisions on the tissues and make a counter fold. Repeat this on the 4 sides of the square. You should get a cushion where the base will be flat, as if stretched, and the chintz side will look like a cake.
- After you have made all the squares, it's time to start sewing. You need to flash each side of your squares with an indent of 0.5 cm.
- Remember the circuit we drew at the beginning? Now it is useful to you. According to the scheme, put all the squares in the desired picture.
- After the drawing is ready, you need to stitch the squares together. To do this, take 2 small squares, fold them with their faces to each other, and sew them together from the wrong side, thus stitching the squares with ribbons of 6-8 squares.
- When all the squares are sewn into ribbons, in the same way, sew them together.
- Now turn over the blanket and start filling with sintepon or holofiber.
- When all the squares are full, you will need to manually sew the slots through which you filled the squares.
- At the end, take a chintz the size of your blanket and insulation, and sew them with the wrong side to each other.
And so, we have sewed an incredibly soft and airy bonbon blanket. Of course, this is not the only way to sew such a blanket, but in our opinion, the easiest.
