Makeup is a very delicate and filigree work. It requires a lot of attention, imagination and not anyhow creativity. After all, we are all girls individual and even the same make-up will look at us differently. Therefore, there are people like makeup artists. They immediately see what needs to be emphasized, highlighted, or vice versa hidden. But not all of us girls can afford to go to a makeup artist. Especially if we apply makeup daily, without really thinking about this ritual.
In this article, we’ll not talk about everyday, simple makeup, but about the different makeup that girls have been making for themselves since the 1920s.
1920s Makeup
Girls in the 20s, without exception, tried to highlight their eyes. Basically they were distinguished by dark, black shadows, most of all painting over the inner corner of the century. Instead of shadows, the girls used petroleum jelly, rubbing their eyelids. Then they made a show with pencil and ink, where their eyes boldly stood out.
The face was usually dusted white, and the lips were painted with dark, cherry lipstick, giving them the shape of a bow.
1930s Makeup
Makeup in the 30s has changed in a more gentle and graceful direction than in the 20s. Girls of that time began to use gently pink and peach blush, as well as beautifully outline lips with a pencil. In popularity, lipsticks were light pink, peach and raspberry colors.
Eyes were highlighted with a narrow eyeliner, but eyebrows were sometimes plucked to a tiny strip, which was very fashionable at that time.
1940s Makeup
In the 1940s, girls liked to highlight cheekbones with reddish blush. Eyebrows were often drawn closer to natural ones, and eyelashes were always made up in several layers of mascara. Eyelids are emphasized with eyeliner, often using gray and brown shades.
At that time, the girls had fashion, putting above the right corner of the lips puts a black dot, a mole. But the lips always stood out with bright, scarlet lipstick.
1950s Makeup
In 1950, the world was a super popular actress Merlin Monroe. And many girls wanted to be like a sex symbol and often did makeup in her style. Monroe-style makeup was distinguished by distinguished eyebrows with a characteristic break. Lips have always been painted in several layers of lipstick to give them great sensuality.
Eye shadow, applied from the corner of the eye in a brown tone, and on the moving eyelid pearl. The upper eyelid in this case was drawn in black pencil, and the lower brown.
1960s Makeup
As before, a bright, almost snow-white face was appreciated in makeup. Blush was allowed, but not in bright colors. In the 1960s, makeup was reduced to a more natural form. The most important thing at that time was to highlight the eyes with the arrows. They could be of different shapes and thicknesses, but the main thing is to be symmetrical.
In the trend, shades with a pearly shade were considered, but the lips were not highlighted with bright, beige, peach or pale pink lipsticks.
1970s Makeup
Most of all in such a make-up, wide, ruffled eyebrows were appreciated. The face at that time tried not to mask, leaving a natural color. Eyes were highlighted with bright green, blue, red or even yellow shades, densely, densely colored eyelashes.
Bright, dark, even black lipstick was appreciated. True, there were also those girls who preferred more pastel shades.
1980s Makeup
Makeup in the 80s, this is an extravaganza of colors. Girls absolutely did not shy away at that time, mixing bright blue and yellow shadows among themselves, directly with them, drawing eyeliner on the lower or upper eyelid. And the more bright shadows there were, the more beautiful it was considered.
Eyebrows were left, a wide strip, highlighting in dark color. But the lips were painted with either orange or brick lipstick.
1990s Makeup
Makeup in the 90s was not much different from makeup in the 80s. But the stormy extravaganza of colors, still gradually began to fade. Some girls still practiced the “Grunge” style, highlighting their eyes with black arrows and bright, colorful shades.
But many began to switch to a more minimalistic look of makeup. Basically, the cheekbones were well distinguished in the makeup, highlighting the lips in a bright color.
2000s Makeup
Silver shades were often used in such makeup, and the eyelids themselves were emphasized by a thin strip of pencil. The face was given a frosty shade of ice, and the lips were often painted in the natural colors of lipstick.
Instead of lipstick, the girls also chose lip gloss. And often in the makeup used sparkles.
2010 Makeup
Makeup from 2010 is not much different from our modern makeup. In 2010, smoky eyes makeup was very popular. A bright color eyeliner also came into fashion. Such as violet, black and blue.
With the help of mascara, they began to focus more on lower eyelashes, and on the eyelids began to apply brick or red brick shades of shadows. The fashionable solution was to apply silver shadows to the inner corners of the eyes, and to the outer ones dark. Lipstick used varied. From light, faded shades, to richly bright, red tones.
