A bit of history
The tradition of decorating the Christmas tree came to us from Germany. According to legend, for the first time, such an idea came to mind the German reformer Martin Luther on Christmas evening 1513. Since then, the tradition has undergone many changes, but still firmly established throughout the world. In Russia, the first ruler who proposed using conifers as a symbol of the New Year was Peter I, and he issued a decree that said:
"... On large and passing streets to noble people and at houses deliberate spiritual and worldly rank in front of the gate to make some decorations from the trees and branches of pine and juniper ...".
Despite this, the tradition did not immediately take root here, only in 1819 it fell in love with both the nobility and the common people. Later, during the Second World War, the decoration of the tree was banned, but after the revolution, the fluffy beauty finally became a symbol of the New Year.
Color spectrum
Nowadays, it is customary to decorate a Christmas tree in colors that correspond to the animal, patronizing the coming year. In the coming year 2024, such an animal will be the Yellow Earthen Boar (Pig). The pig likes fiery colors: red, gold, purple, orange, yellow and silver. This does not mean that only these colors should be present on your tree, but according to Feng Shui, the presence of these flowers on the New Year tree will attract good luck to you next year.
Christmas tree selection
It is important not only to decorate the New Year tree, but also to choose it. There are many options. The most common choice is a live tree or pine, but for environmentalists there are other options:
- Faux Christmas tree. The selection of such Christmas trees for the New Year is simply huge, from the smallest desktop decorative Christmas trees to huge fluffy trees that are almost impossible to distinguish from real ones.
- Homemade christmas tree. Such Christmas trees are made from improvised materials. You can find ready-made ideas for a homemade Christmas tree on the Internet or come up with it yourself.
- Invisible Christmas tree. Such a tree is simply ornaments suspended on a transparent fishing line. If you look at them from the side, you get the feeling that they are floating in the air or hanging on the frame of an invisible Christmas tree.
Christmas tree decoration
There are several basic techniques for decorating a Christmas tree.
Two-color Christmas tree
As the name implies, only 2 colors of decorations are used to decorate the Christmas tree. Colors should harmonize and complement each other perfectly. You can arrange decorations on the tree:
- a spiral;
- vertical stripes;
- horizontal stripes;
- round;
- randomly.
The most popular color arrangements are:
- red + gold;
- blue + silver;
- blue + white;
- green + gold;
- silver + gold.
Hand made
DIY decorations have become very popular right now. If you are a fan of such jewelry, then it would be advisable to decorate the tree in the style of hand made. You can make jewelry yourself, turning it into a fun activity for the whole family. Use ribbons, homemade snowflakes and of course, do not forget to make a toy pig to honor the mistress of the year.
Retro Christmas background
If you still keep your children's toys, then it's time to find them to use. Take out the old figures of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden and certainly put them under the tree.Be sure to hang sweets and gingerbread on the tree, especially if there are children in the house, it will be very fun and pleasant to find them.
Whatever decoration option you choose, do not forget about the main attribute of the Christmas tree - the top. To decorate the top of the tree, a star is traditionally used as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem, but you can also use an angel, bow, snowflake or the symbol of the year, in this case, a pig.
And do not forget, according to tradition, in order to encourage good luck, every year you need to buy at least one new Christmas tree toy. Happy New Year!
